On October 4, 2024 the Government of Gujarat issued a notification outlining the process and responsibilities involved to ensure that laborers and employees receive their bonuses for the year 2023-24 in a timely manner.
Timely Bonus Distribution
In an effort to facilitate bonus payments before Diwali, the government has directed all zonal officers to closely monitor the process within industrial units and institutions. This commitment not only helps boost morale among workers but also fosters a positive work environment during the celebrations.
Engaging with Stakeholders
Effective communication is vital for the success of this initiative. Zonal officers are encouraged to maintain constant contact with owner associations and labor unions. This collaboration is essential in ensuring that any potential issues are addressed promptly, creating a smoother bonus distribution process.
Preventing Labor Disputes
To mitigate any possible labor disputes, especially in larger industries with over 100 laborers, the government emphasizes the importance of immediate intervention. By ensuring that bonuses are paid promptly, the risk of tensions and conflicts can be significantly reduced, allowing for a more peaceful festive period.
Reporting Requirements
To maintain transparency and accountability, zonal Government Labour Officers are required to submit daily reports on bonus payments starting from October 10, 2024. These reports must be in Excel format and sent to the Divisional Deputy Labour Commissioners by 5 PM each day. Notably, even if no bonuses are distributed (“zero” reports), it is crucial to communicate this information.
All data submitted will be compiled and displayed on the Chief Minister’s dashboard, ensuring that the government has a clear overview of the situation across the state. Reports should be sent to the email address: asc-bgact-labour@gujarat.gov.in.
Divisional Deputy Labour Commissioners play a critical role in ensuring that all submitted data is consistent and accurate.
