The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) released a press note regarding the tariff rates for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-25. The state-owned utilities and distribution licensees filed petitions for tariff determination, adhering to the GERC Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) Regulations, 2016, and the Electricity Act, 2003. Based on these petitions, GERC introduced revisions in existing tariff orders.
The Commission finalized the below-mentioned tariff rates and they will be effective from June 1, 2024:
- No changes in scheduled tariff rates for consumers of State-owned Discoms and Torrent Power Limited (Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Surat areas).
- Discontinuation of night-time electricity concession for regular consumers, except for those opted for exclusive night-time usage.
- Introduced a 10kW connected load ceiling limit for applicability of RGP tariff to small scale Animal Husbandry activities.
- Reduction in ‘Green Power Tariff’ from Rs. 1.50 to Rs. 1.00 per kWh.
- Continuation of the existing mechanism for Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) charges.
- Increase in the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) transmission charges to Rs. 4130.32 per MW per day.
- Approval of transmission charge for Short Term Users at 39.09 Paise per Unit.
- Approval of State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) charges at Rs. 4319.57 Lakh for FY 2024-25.
- Reduction in Distribution losses in kind for HT network from 9.50% to 8.50% for Open Access consumers.
- FPPPA charges for consumers of State-owned Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) are approved at Rs. 2.77 per unit for FY 2024-25.
- For consumers of Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar area (Torrent Power Limited), the Base FPPPA charges are approved at Rs. 3.39 per unit.
- For consumers of Surat area (Torrent Power Limited), the Base FPPPA charges are approved at Rs. 2.85 per unit.
