The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recommended the appointment of 1196 candidates as Medical Officers in the rank of Group-‘A’ (Junior Branch) of the Odisha Medical & Health Services Cadre. The Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Orissa has issued a notification appointing these candidates. This notification was issued on 4th June, 2023.
These candidates have been posted to various districts as indicated in their appointment letters.
The appointed Medical Officers will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 56,100/- (Level-12, Cell-1 of the Pay matrix). Additionally, they will be eligible for other allowances sanctioned by the Government from time to time.
The newly appointed Medical Officers will serve a probationary period of two years, starting from their date of joining the post. During this period, their performance and suitability for the role will be assessed.
Important points to note regarding the appointments are as follows:
- The appointments are temporary and can be terminated without prior notice or reason.
- The candidates must provide the original Certificates as per the OPSC Advertisement to the concerned Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM & PHO). If any forged documents are discovered during verification, their appointment will be revoked.
- The appointments are subject to the candidates’ medical fitness, determined by a Medical Board, and the verification of their character and antecedents. Adverse reports may lead to immediate termination.
- Candidates will not receive any travel or daily allowances for joining their place of posting.
- A Committee, headed by the Collector-cum-District Magistrate (DM) and convened by the CDM & PHO, will be responsible for assigning the Medical Officers to different health facilities within the district.
- Medical Officers pursuing postgraduate or higher studies, or currently working as Senior Residents, Tutors, or Junior Residents, may join their place of posting in the periphery. They will be relieved by the concerned CDM & PHO on the next day to continue their studies, provided they submit an undertaking to serve under the State Government upon completion of their higher studies.
- Medical Officers currently in periphery service, if selected for postgraduate or higher studies or for Senior Residency, Tutorship, or Junior Residency through counseling in the future, will require prior permission from the government before being relieved by the CDM & PHO to join the course.
