The Government of Gujarat has issued a notification revising the minimum wages for employees working in scheduled employments. This notification was issued on 27th March, 2023.
This revision of minimum wages will apply to skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees. The revision shall come into effect from the 1st April, 2023. It will apply to the whole of the State of Gujarat.
The application of this revision shall be as follows:
- The basic rates of wages payable to the employed in the said employment by the day shall be as set out in the Schedules appended to this notificaion
- A special allowance and direction that so long as this notifications in force, the rates of such special allowance shall be adjusted by the competent authority, at the interval of six months commencing from the 1st October and the 1st April on the basis of the average cost of Living Index Number for the preceding period for six months ending on the 30th June and 31st December.
