The Govt. of Gujarat has issued a notification declaring the employment of labourers in the fertilizer industry as ‘public service’. This notification was issued on 16th March, 2023.
The government has confirmed that the employment of labourers in the fertilizer industry in Gujarat is public service for the purposes of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 and the Labour Laws (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 2015.
Hence for the period one year from this notification, i.e. till 15th March, 2024, employment of services of such labourers/ employees will be regarded as public utility service.
