Government Proposes Name Change for Health Units at Entry Points

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is proposing a revision in the nomenclature of Points of Entry (PoEs) health organizations under their purview. These PoEs include Airport Health Organizations (APHOs), Port Health Organizations (PHOs), and Land Border Quarantine Centers (LBQCs). A notice of these proposed changes was issued on August 16, 2024.

The aim of this revision is to achieve uniformity and clarity in communication. The proposed new names will be:

The proposed names consolidate the existing diverse terms associated with these health units at airports, ports, and land borders.

Stakeholders can submit their comments on the proposed revisions by August 26, 2024. Comments can be sent to Sushant Kumar, SSO, PH(IH), at Room 747, A Wing, Directorate General of Health Services, MoH&FW, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi 110001 and the soft copy may be sent to phih.section@gov.in.

These changes seek to streamline communication and improve the efficiency of health operations at Points of Entries (PoEs).
