The State Government of West Bengal vide its notification dated 14th December 2020 has published the West Bengal Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (Amendment) Rules, 2020 to further amend the West Bengal Legal Metrology Enforcement Rules, 2011.
The Amendment is brought under Rules 11(2) which deals with auto renewal of the licenses which has been substituted, stating that all licenses issued to manufacturers, repairers, and dealers of weights and measures shall be renewed automatically upon payment of the requisite fees and submission of the appropriate form set out in Schedule-II-B, for such period as may be applied or notified by the law.
Further under Rules 11(5) which specifies the payment of late fees in which it has stated that the late fees, as may be notified, shall be payable in addition to the license fees, for auto renewal of licenses within 3 months of expiry.
