The State Government of Tamil Nadu on 30th March 2022 has notified amendments to the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Rules which permits electronic maintenance of Registers.
The Amendment is brought under rule 16 which deals with Maintenance of registers and records and display of notices in which the following registers shall be maintained either electronically or manually.
Every employer shall maintain.-
- a Register of persons employed in Form-U;
- a Register of Employment in Form-V;
- a Register of Wages in Form-W; and
- a Register of Leave and Social Security Benefits in Form-X.
Further in cases where the registers are maintained electronically, the layout and presentation of the registers may be adjusted without changing the integrity, serial number and contents of the columns of the registers.
