Government of Tamil Nadu issues notification regarding use of AADHAAR for enrolment of beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th November 2021 has issued a notification, regarding the use of aadhaar under the Aadhaar (targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) act, 2016 for enrolment of beneficiaries under national social assistance programme.

The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing the following schemes under Social Security Schemes, wherein a sum of Rs.1,000/- per month is provided as pension to the benefi ciaries:-

  • Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS)
  • Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS).
  • Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS)
  • Diff erently Abled Pension Scheme (DAPS)
  • Destitute Widow Pension Scheme (DWPS)
  • Destitute / Deserted Wives Pension Scheme (DDWPS)
  • Chief Minister’s Uzhavar Padhukappu Thittam (CMUPT)
  • Pension to Poor Unmarried Women of age 50 years and above (UWP)

An eligible individual desirous of availing pension under the above Schemes is required to furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication.

 An eligible individual desirous of availing pension under the above Schemes, who does not possess an Aadhaar number or has not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, is hereby required to apply for Aadhaar enrolment provided he or she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per Section 3 of the said Act.

However, till the time Aadhaar is assigned to the individual, pension under the above Schemes shall be given to such individuals subject to the production of the following identifi cation documents, namely:-

(i) If he or she has enrolled, his or her Aadhaar Enrolment Identity slip

(or) (ii) Copy of his or her request made for Aadhaar Enrolment.
