The State Government of Tamil Nadu on 23rd May 2021 has granted relaxation to Industries manufacturing essential commodities, medical supplies and Continuous Process Industries to work during lockdown and the companies shall apply for epass for their employees to travel during the workhours.
The Government on 22nd May 2021 has extended the lockdown for a week starting from May 24, further tightening some of the relaxations to break the chain of transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However it exempted the following services from from the lockdown:
- Pharmacies, allopathy, traditional medicines and veterinary
- Employees in private sector, banks, insurance companies are requested to work from home and E-Commerce companies can function between 8 a.m and 6 p.m.
- Only takeaways from hotels/restaurants can function from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. 12 noon to 3 p.m and 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Food delivery companies like Swiggy and Zomato can deliver only during the above period.
- Trucks carrying agricultural produce, farm inputs and essential items will be allowed.
