The State Government of Karnataka on 20th May 2021 directed all hospitals treating covid-19 patients including those registered with SAST to set up step-Down facilities by 24th May 2021 and empower doctors to recommend eligible patients to such facilities.
Patients who are well on the path of recovery and who do not require 24×7 medical attention/hospitalization shall be shifted to the step down facility.
The Government in its earlier notification dated 22nd April 2021 has issued detailed guidelines for setting up Step Down Hospitals by Private Medical Establishments in association with Hotels. However the hospitals have not tied up with step-down hotels to establish such facilities, therefore through this notification, it has directed all the hospitals to establish the step-down facility by 24th May 2021.
