Government of Haryana Introduces Paid Leave for Election Participation

The Governor of Haryana has prioritized the ability of adult factory workers across the state to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 General Election or the Legislative Assembly, as per the Election Commission of India’s schedule. In order to ensure maximum voter turnout, the Governor has invoked the authority granted by the Factories Act, 1948, to grant a leave to all adult workers who are registered voters in Haryana. This means they won’t have to work on the polling day within Haryana. Here’s a quick breakdown of the states and their respective polling dates, along with the corresponding weeks during which exemptions will be granted:

  • Uttar Pradesh: Polling on 19.04.2024, exemption from 21.04.2024 to 27.04.2024
  • Uttrakhand: Polling on 19.04.2024, exemption from 21.04.2024 to 27.04.2024
  • Rajasthan: Polling on 19.04.2024 and 26.04.2024, exemption from 21.04.2024 to 04.05.2024
  • NCT Delhi: Polling on 25.05.2024, exemption from 26.05.2024 to 01.06.2024
  • Himachal Pradesh: Polling on 01.06.2024, exemption from 02.06.2024 to 08.06.2024
  • Punjab: Polling on 01.06.2024, exemption from 02.06.2024 to 08.06.2024
  • U.T. Chandigarh: Polling on 01.06.2024, exemption from 02.06.2024 to 08.06.2024
