Government of Gujarat notifies Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2020

The Labour and Employment department of Gujarat vide its notification dated 23rd June 2020 has issued the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2020 where it has introduced new compliances emphasizing Environment, Health And Safety of the Shops and Establishments in Gujarat.

The Rules shall be applicable to every employer, engaging 10 or more workers and the employer shall submit an application in Form-A for registration of establishment along with required documents and fee.

Employer engaging less than 10 employees shall submit an application in Form-D for the commencement of the business and the intimation may be submitted online where online access is available.

Every employer shall display a notice at a conspicuous place of the premises, showing the day of rest in Form k and in case if the establishment operating in more than 1 shift, the employer shall display the shift schedule, showing the names and designation of all personnel working in the shift.

Further, every employer shall provide identity card to its workers as specified in Form-M and shall maintain a leave book in Form-N, muster roll cum wage register in Form-P.

The employer shall submit the Annual Return in form-Q to the inspector within 1 month after completion of the calendar year ending on 31st December.
