Government of Goa notifies Goa State Working Journalist Welfare Scheme.

The State Government of Goa vide its notification dated 13th January 2022 has notified the Goa State Working Journalist Welfare Scheme Rules, 2002 will shall come into force with immediate effect and shall consider all those journalists who are presently members including those who have retired or family members who are drawing pension under the Goa State Working Journalist Welfare Scheme Rules, 2002. They will be entitled to get welfare under this scheme, subject to the conditions prescribed in this scheme and as amended from time to time.

The objective of “Goa State Working Journalist Welfare Scheme” is meant for the welfare of working journalists, retired from service after working in Goa and their families.

Any journalist, who is a resident of Goa for 15 years shall be eligible under the scheme and those who retire after 18 years of service in any newspaper/Media establishment setup in Goa will be eligible only after attaining the age of 60.

The fund will comprise of the contribution by the State Government through budgetary provision and the Fund will be at the disposal of the Governing Body for the purpose of disbursement of welfare under the scheme.

An amount of Rs. 8500/- p.m. will be disbursed as pension for pensioner and 50% of the pension of the Journalist for family pension.
