Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken steps to contain the price rise of edible oil.

The State Government of Andhra Pradesh vide its notification dated 16th March 2022 has decided to constitute a price monitoring action group (PMGA) task force at state level to monitor the price situation and to take measures to contain the unusual price rise and ensure the supply chain runs smoothly.

The Committee has notified the following measures to control the prise rise and shall monitor the price situation daily upto 15th April 2022 .

· Commissioner, agriculture-marketing/MD, AP oil fed to increase the purchase of edible oil for consumer distribution through alternate outlets.

· AP oilfed to explore possibility to sell the edible oils through Rythu bazaars only instead of selling through its distributors, review the AP oil-fed MRP prices to assess whether the prices can be reduced further for retail sale.

· Conduct meetings with edible oil manufacturers to control the pricing of edible oils.

·  Increase the scope of daily price collection from consumers directly by involving CS RIs and other staff in civil supplies dept.

·  Prevent adulteration of edible oils, to intensify the inspections/testing and take punitive action under the FSS Act 2006.
