Government Issues Insecticides (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2023

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has officially issued the Insecticides (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2023. The rules shall come into force from December 28, 2023.

The draft rules were published on 1st of September, 2023. After due consideration of the objections and suggestions received from the public, the Central Government, in consultation with the Board, has decided to enact the Insecticides (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2023.

Amendment in Rule 10 of the Insecticides Rules, 1971.

Rule 10 of the Insecticides Rules, 1971 which deals with the qualifications of the Pest Control Operators has been amended to include a further requirement.

The additional proviso mandates that individuals must have passed Class 12th or Higher Secondary Certificate Examination from a recognized Board or University.

This amendment aims to enhance the qualifications required for the roles of pest control operators within the ambit of insecticides regulation, ensuring a more informed and skilled workforce in the sector. The Central Government believes that these changes will contribute to the effective implementation of insecticides-related regulations.
