Government Extends Deadline for Filing E-Waste Returns

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has extended the deadline for filing electronic waste (e-waste) returns. This order was issued on May 17, 2024.

The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, require registered entities to file quarterly and annual returns on their e-waste management activities.

The last date for filing these reports for the 2023-2024 financial year was April 30, 2024.

The MoEF&CC has now extended this deadline to June 30, 2024, in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Amendment Rules, 2024.

During this extended period, companies can also generate and transfer Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) certificates on the EPR portal.

This extension provides additional time for companies to comply with the e-waste regulations.
