On October 15, 2024, the Government of Goa announced that October 20, 2024, will be a paid holiday in light of the bye-elections taking place in the state.
This decision pertains to the bye-election for Ward 7 of the Village Panchayat Orlim, Salcete, and Ward 6 of the Village Panchayat Morpirla, Taluka Quepem, as well as the general election for the Village Panchayat Harvalem, Taluka Bicholim, in North Goa district.
Details of the Paid Holiday
The paid holiday will apply to:
- Industrial Workers: Employees working in various industries.
- Daily Wage Workers: This includes workers in government departments and state government industrial departments.
- Commercial and Industrial Workers: Employees in private establishments.
- All Private Establishment Workers: Workers in any private business or trade.
- Daily Wage/Casual Workers: Those employed in any business, trade, industrial undertakings, or other establishments, provided they are registered voters for the bye-elections.
