The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a warning regarding a surge in fraudulent job advertisements and offers that misuse its name and logo. These scams aim to deceive job seekers by falsely claiming the availability of positions that don’t exist. This notice was issued on January 24, 2025.
Beware of These Red Flags
Mass Hiring Spree Lies
Scammers are circulating misleading advertisements promoting over 15,000 fake vacancies at FSSAI. These fabricated ads often include application windows to create a sense of urgency.
Unofficial Communication
Fraudulent individuals reach out through unofficial channels like personal phone numbers, fake email addresses, SMS, social media platforms, and links shared via WhatsApp or other websites. They may request upfront payments disguised as refundable security deposits or processing fees.
How to Spot Real FSSAI Job Openings?
FSSAI stresses that all legitimate job opportunities are exclusively announced on their official website, in Employment News/Rojgar Samachar, and through reputable newspapers. They will never ask for any payments beyond the application fee mentioned in official recruitment notices.
Safety Tips for Job Seekers
A. Double-Check Everything
Always verify job postings by visiting the official FSSAI website or trusted job portals. Don’t rely on unsolicited messages or social media posts.
B. Free to Apply is the Key
Legitimate employers won’t ask for upfront payments for applications or training. Be wary of any requests for money.
C. Guard Your Information
Don’t share sensitive personal details until you can confirm the employer’s legitimacy.
D. Report Suspicious Activity
If you encounter a suspicious job offer or communication, report it to the authorities or consumer protection organizations.
The FSSAI has further emphasized that they will not be held responsible for any losses or damages incurred as a result of interactions with these fraudulent individuals or agencies misrepresenting the authority.
