FSSAI to conduct special drive to check adulteration of sweets, milk and milk products during the festive season.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on 26th October 2021, has directed the commissioners of food safety of all states and union territory to ensure a strict vigil on manufacturing and sale of sweets, milk and milk products like khoya, paneer etc. during the ongoing festive season in their respective jurisdictions by conducting frequent surveillance/enforcement drives, including positioning of Food Safety on wheels (FSW) where available, in the prominent markets and/or on the basis of specific intelligence inputs etc., so as to ensure that such products are safe to consume and are strictly as per the respective food products standards while boosting the consumer sentiments across the country.

Based on the representation/inputs received from various sources expressing concerns regarding rise in the adulteration of sweets, milk and milk products like Khoya, paneer etc. during the ongoing festive season in the country, FSSAI has decided to conduct the special drive.

Further, the action taken report on the same shall be shared with the executive director (Regulatory compliance) from the time to time, preferably by the end of every month.
