FSSAI suspends requirement of AGMARK certification in case of imported food products

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide circular dated 18 August, 2022 has issued clarification regarding requirement of AGMARK certification in case of imported food products. It is clarified that the requirement of AGMARK certification in case of imported food products is suspended till further orders from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

AGMARK is a certification mark for agricultural produce, assuring that they conform to a grade standard notified by Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI), Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under Agricultural Produce (Grading Marking) Act, 1937.

These standards differentiate between quality and 2-3 grades are prescribed for each commodity.
