The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is inviting public comments on two newly approved manuals. This public notice was issued on June 26, 2024.
These two manuals are:
- Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods – Metals and Minerals
- Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods – Sweets & Confectionary including Sweetening Agents
Before finalizing these manuals, the FSSAI is seeking feedback from stakeholders, including food businesses, laboratories, and consumer groups.
Interested parties can submit comments and suggestions by July 30, 2024 using the prescribed format. The comments should be sent via email to sp-sampling@fssai.gov.in.
The FSSAI emphasizes that only comments supported by scientific evidence will be considered.

These manuals will provide standardized methods for analyzing food samples for metals, minerals, and the ingredients in sweets and confectionery. This will help ensure consistency and accuracy in food safety testing across India.
