FSSAI Releases Approved List of Laboratories for Testing Micronutrients in Fortified Rice

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an approved list of laboratories capable of testing micronutrients in Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin-Mineral Premix for Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK). This list aims to facilitate the analysis of samples to ensure compliance with quality standards. This list was issued on March 8, 2024.

According to the notification, laboratories included in the approved list are mandated to accept samples for testing only if they possess valid accreditation status.

Additionally, the recognition and validity of the aforementioned laboratories will be governed by the latest order issued by FSSAI on this matter. It is noteworthy that the present order supersedes the previous directive dated November 30, 2023.

This initiative by FSSAI seeks to promote food safety and quality standards in fortified rice products particularly addressing nutritional deficiencies. By establishing a robust system of approved laboratories, FSSAI aims to strengthen regulatory oversight and safeguard consumer health and well-being.
