Food Safety and Standard Authority of India vide its notification dated 22nd June 2020 has framed a draft Food Safety and Standards( Alcoholic Beverages) Amendment Regulations, 2020 and draft Food Safety and Standards( Food Product Standards and Food Additive) Amendment Regulation, 2020.
The finalization of these regulations is likely to take some time. Meanwhile, it has been decided to operationalise the provisions related to alcohol-free bar from Food Safety and Standards( Alcoholic Beverages) Amendment Regulations, 2020 and provision regarding use of certain food color in distilled spirituous beverages from Food Safety and Standards( Food Product Standards and Food Additive) Amendment Regulation, 2020 with immediate effect.
