The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has decided that the appellate/ referral samples may be sent to any referral laboratory as per their valid NABL scope of testing. This Order was issued on 6th July, 2023.
It may be recalled that previously, the functions of referral laboratories were limited to specified areas and scope. However, by the present order the FSSAI has done away with these restrictions on jurisdiction and scope.
The order states that appellate/ referral samples may be sent to any referral laboratory as per their valid NABL scope of testing irrespective of their areas of jurisdiction.
FSSAI has thereby also notified 22 FSSAI-notified Referral Food Laboratories.
