The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on 21st June 2022, has decided to implement its earlier direction on the operationalization of Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives), Amendment Regulations regarding the standards of Packaged Drinking Water (other than Mineral Water) from 1st January 2023.
FSSAI had framed the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations w.r.t. the values of Total Dissolved Solids, Calcium and Magnesium based on the recommendations of Scientific Panel/Committee. However until the process of approving the draft amendment regulation by Food Authority, FSSAI has decided to operationalize regulation 2.10.8 relating to the standards of Packaged Drinking Water from 1st January 2023 and no further extension beyond the said date shall be provided.
