FSSAI grants relaxation of licensing requirements to reduce burden of lock down

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide notification dated 31st March 2020 has allowed temporary operation of Food Business Operators without license renewal to ensure uninterrupted food supply and to relax the burden of the lockdown.

FSSAI states that any FBO other than the manufactures shall operate if they have filed license application during the lockdown period. In the event of not obtaining the approval within 30 days after end of lockdown, the FBOs shall stop its activities .

Another notification issued on the same date directs that the inspection of FBOs for grant of license, done prior or post approval, shall be conducted electronically. They can be re-inspected physically if required, post restoration of normalcy.
