The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide circular dated 22 October, 2021 has extended the timeline for manufacturing and sale of stapled tea bangs. The roadmap for transition to non-stapled tea bags shall be submitted by 31st December, 2021.
Stapled tea bangs can be sold in the domestic market till 31st December, 2023. Quarterly compliance report shall be submitted on implementation of transition plan. The Stapled tea bags can be manufactured till 31.12.2022.
