Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on 12th July, 2021 directed the Commissioner of Food Safety of all States/ UTs and all central Licensing Authorities not to take any punitive action on Food Business Operators (FBOs) for using the processing aids listed in Annexure- I till the amendments are brought in place.
A list of processing aids permitted for usage in the food products were notified by the FSSAI through notifications dated 9th October, 2020 and 4th March, 2021. The authority had extended the last date for compliance of the above mentioned notifications up to 1st January,2022.
The list of processing aids in Annexure- I are under consideration by the FSSAI for the inclusion in the principal regulation. The authority hereby permitted the usage of the same till the final decision is brought and the amendment is gazette notified.
