Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) vide notification dated 23rd March 2020 has given directions on the services which are to be considered “Essential Services” and the method of functioning of offices in light of COVID 19 virus.
FSSAI has declared the following as essential services:
- Import clearance of food items
- Food testing laboratories
- Renewal of food business licences
All personnel assigned to these services shall attend office where as the rest of the officials who would be working from home shall be available all the time via telephonic and electronic communication systems. The officers working from home shall not leave headquarters without permission.
The notification shall be in force up to 31st March 2020.
