The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) joined forces with Customs officials for a joint inspection on 11th January 2024, at the Public Bonded Warehouse in Dwarka, New Delhi. The investigation exposed a blatant violation of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act of 2006.
During the inspection, discoveries were made as a Food Business Operator (FBO) was found harboring a substantial stockpile of 45 metric tonnes of expired beer from a popular brand. With an estimated value of Rs. 1 crore, the expired products were promptly seized by FSSAI.
The confiscated products will undergo further investigation to determine the full extent of the violation. A comprehensive inquiry into the matter is currently underway to identify any additional violations and to initiate necessary actions as per the regulatory framework.
FSSAI urges consumers to actively participate in maintaining the highest standards of food safety across the country. This proactive engagement with consumers ensures a collaborative effort in upholding food safety standards and holding accountable those who compromise them.
