Exemption from Charges for Late Filing of Bill of Entry

On 11th July 2019, the Office of the Commissioner of Customs vide Public Notice No. 64/2019, has exempted certain Importers / Exporters, Custom Brokers, Trade, Customs Staff and Stakeholders from paying charges for late filing of Bill of Entry.

As per records On 9th and 10th July 2019, the traders faced difficulty in filing the Bills of Entry, as the e- Sanchit Portal for uploading supporting documents was very slow. Hence, as a measure of trade facilitation, no late filing charges will be imposed for consignments with Bill of Entry dates between 8th and 10th July 2019. Any such waiver case will directly be dealt by the respective Dy. /Asst. Commissioners of the Group.

For further delays in generation of Bill of Entry after 10th July, Customs Brokers or Importers will be required to submit evidence to show that efforts were made for filing Bill of Entry but no positive acknowledgement was received from the portal.

All such waiver cases for late filing charges would be dealt by the respective DC/AC on merits. Any other difficulties faced may be brought to the notice of the Joint Commissioner of Customs for necessary action.
