ESIC extends the date for filing of ESI contribution for the month of April, 2021.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment on 12th May 2021 has relaxed the provision as entered in Regulation 31 of ESI (General) Regulations, 1950 and allowed filing of ESI contribution for the month of April, 2021 upto 15th June, 2021 instead of 15th May, 2021.

As per regulation 31 of ESI, an employer who is liable to pay contributions in respect of any employee shall pay those contributions within 21 days of the last day of the calendar month in which the contributions fall due, Provided that where a factory/establishment is permanently closed, the employer shall pay contribution on the last day of its closure.

However due to second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic, and in line with the relief measures being extended by Government to business entities and workers, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has relaxed the above provision.

Therefore the employers who are covered under ESI Scheme can now file and pay ESI Contribution for the month of April, 2021 up to 15th June, 2021 instead of 15th May, 2021.
