ESI Act extended to Lakshadweep

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has made certain provisions of Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 applicable to following areas:

1. All the areas of Kavaratti, Agatti and Minicoy Islands in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

The following provisions are made applicable:

1. Sections 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43 and sections 45A to 45H Chapter IV : The chapter deals with the contribution made to the employee.
2. Sections 46 to 73 of Chapter V: The chapter deals with Benefits provides to the employees covered under the Act.
3. Chapter VI which deals with Adjudication of Dispute and Claims.
