The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for surrendering EPF exemptions, superseding all previous guidelines. This SOP standardizes and streamlines the entire process, ensuring timely and uniform procedures across all regional and zonal offices. Establishments must submit their surrender application at least 30 days in advance, accompanied by necessary documents such as audited financial statements and board resolutions. Regional Offices (ROs) and Zonal Offices (ZOs) are responsible for verifying the application, conducting audits, and facilitating a smooth transition to unexempted status. The head office oversees the final approval, ensuring compliance with statutory provisions. This notification was published on August 13, 2024.
