Alappuzha: The agenda for the second day of activities within the Food Security City 2023-24 initiative, spearheaded by the Food Security Department and executed within the Alappuzha Municipality, was revealed during a ceremony inaugurated by the Municipal Chairperson. The event, presided over by the District Food Safety Assistant Commissioner, outlined a comprehensive plan aimed at bolstering food safety measures across the region. As part of the program, Kayamkulam Food Safety Officer Soumya and Alappuzha Food Safety Officer conducted an informative seminar focused on elucidating the nuances of the Food Safety Act of 2006. Targeting guest workers employed in the bustling hotel and restaurant sector, the seminar aimed to enhance awareness and compliance with food safety regulations. Notable attendees included representatives from food trade organizations, government officials, and other stakeholders invested in ensuring food security within the community. In addition to the seminar, the initiative included the organization of food safety license-registration fairs, designed to streamline the process for businesses seeking compliance. Concurrently, a series of awareness programs were rolled out to educate the public about the importance of food safety practices. Furthermore, special food safety inspections were conducted to enforce adherence to established standards and regulations. By prioritizing education, outreach, and regulatory enforcement, the Food Security City project in Alappuzha aims to fortify the region’s food safety landscape, ensuring the well-being of its residents and visitors alike.
