The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide circular dated 13 October, 2021 has directed Enforcement drive to check the malpractices/adulteration in the manufacturing and sale of Black Salt. The authorities are requested to strictly monitor the manufacturing and sale of Black Salt by directing the concerned officers to carry out surprise inspections and drawing of regulatory samples to ensure that the raw material used is not of inferior quality and no adulteration of black salt is being carried out in any manner.
Further, in case there is any prima facie indication of any adulteration/malpractice in the production and/or sale of black salt in the premises/market, suitable necessary action as deemed fit may be initiated against the defaulting FBO.
