In light of the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, the Office of the Commissioner of Excise, Entertainment, and Luxury Tax has issued an official notification regarding the observance of “Dry Days” across the city.
The dry days will be enforced for a period of 48 hours, from 6:00 PM on February 3, 2025, to 6:00 PM on February 5, 2025, coinciding with the polling dates.
Additionally, a full dry day will be observed on February 8, 2025, in observance of the Counting Day.
The following establishments are impacted by this order:
- Retail liquor shops (L-1, L-1F, L-2, L-3, and others)
- Hotels, restaurants, and clubs licensed for the sale and service of liquor
- Non-proprietary clubs and star hotels
- Any other premises selling or serving alcohol
During the designated dry days, these establishments will not be permitted to sell or serve liquor to anyone, regardless of whether the license permits alcohol consumption. This measure aims to ensure a smooth and peaceful election process.
The excise department has emphasized that this order applies to all types of licensed premises within the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
