The Ministry of Power has notified the Draft Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2023. This notification was issued on 19th January, 2023.
The concerned stakeholders and the public at large are invited to furnish their comments on the same within 30 days from the date of the notification, i.e. by 17th February, 2023. The comments must be forwarded to the Ministry of Power or may also be submitted by email to pk.sinha1966@gov.in.
The draft amendment seeks to clarify the duration of licences which were previously unregulated. It states that the duration of such licences shall be 25 years from the coming into force of these amendment rules.
It also provides the eligibility criteria for members and chairpersons to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission/ Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission.
