Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2022

The Central Government vide notification dated 18th April, 2022 has issued the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2022. The Objections and suggestions to these draft rules, if any, may be sent through
email: comments-morth@gov.in; within 30 days of notification.

The amendment provides for a training 20 sessions in a span of maximum 2 weeks for obtaining two wheeler license. It will be covered in two segments, Theory and Practical. THEORY include 7 sessions:

  1. Driving theory
  2. Traffic education
  3. Basic vehicle engineering
  4. First aid and Golden hour
  5. Public relations, Road etiquette and road rage
  6. Causes of accidents & case studies
  7. Fuel efficiency and pollution

PRACTICAL Sessions include:

  1. Basic driving practice in Driving range
  2. Skill driving practice in Driving range
  3. Night driving in driving range
  4. Low traffic practice on Public road
  5. Single lane practice on public road
  6. Two lane, no divider practice on public road, must have traffic signals and pedestrian crossings
  7. Two lane, no divider practice on public road, must have traffic signals and pedestrian crossings
  8. Practice on road with divider, irrespective of lane, but must have traffic signals and pedestrian crossings
  9. Minor repairs and checks, replacement of flat tyre by Stepney
