The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has proposed amendments to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Electric Ceiling Type Fans) Regulations, 2022. These draft amendment regulations were published on August 29, 2024.
The proposed amendments aim to enhance the information provided on ceiling fan labels, making it easier for consumers to compare energy efficiency and make informed purchasing decisions.
Key Changes
Additional Information On Labels
The new proposed labels will now include the following additional information:
- electricity savings per year (kWh) and
- CO2 emission reduction per year (KgCO2).
This is in addition to the already included information such as the logo of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, name of manufacturer or importer and brand, trade name and number, model and year of manufacturing or import, unique series code, power input in watts, air delivery in cu m/min, service value in cu m/min/Watts, star level of Electric Ceiling Type Fan and label period.
Label Design Updates
The dimensions of the labels on packaging and ceiling motor fan, colour scheme and specific details to be displayed have been revised.
These changes will help consumers understand the energy efficiency of ceiling fans more effectively and make informed choices that can contribute to energy conservation and reduced carbon emissions.
The BEE has invited public comments on the proposed amendments within 30 days from the date of publication of these draft amendments. These objections or suggestions may be addressed to the Director-General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, 4th Floor, Sewa Bhawan, Sector-1, R.K.Puram, New Delhi-110066.
