The Department of telecommunications (DoT) on 27th June, 2024 issued a notification regarding the amendment of the scope of IP-1 registration.
As per the Guidelines for Registration of Infrastructure Providers Category-1, the Infrastructure Providers Category-1 are those IPs who provide and maintains asset such as dark fibres, Right of Way, duct space & tower. However, as per the latest amended clause of IP-1 registration, IP who provide and maintain asset such as POLES are also included under the IP-1 Category.
Further, the IP-1 registration holders shall not enter into any exclusive contract for establishing the infrastructure (under the scope of IP-1 registration) or Right of Way (RoW) with any public entity or person. Additionally new definitions such as Person and Public Entity have been inserted
