Haryana Government on January 31st 2025 issued the Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Amendment Ordinance, 2025, amending the Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Act, 2024. The changes aimed at strengthening the security of service for contractual employees in the state.
Key Amendment
The key change in this amendment relates to the definition of service duration for the purpose of calculating eligibility under the act. The amendment modifies Explanation 2 to Clause (ii) of Section 3.
Previously, it was stated that the number of years of engagement for a contractual employee would be calculated based on service during a “calendar year.” The new amendment changes this to a “period of one year contractual service,” allowing for more precise calculation of service duration based on the actual period of contract rather than the calendar year.
