The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has extended the deadline for the formation of State Allied and Healthcare Council. This notification was issued on March 20, 2024 and has come into immediate effect.
Notably, the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021 came into effect on May 25, 2021. The Act mandates that every state government should establish a State Allied and Healthcare Council. However, due to ongoing elections and challenges in finding experienced professionals, the constitution of these councils posed difficulties.
To address these challenges, the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions 6th (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2023 had extended the stipulated period to May 25, 2024.
Now therefore, the Central Government has further extended the timeline for the formation of the State Allied and Healthcare Councils. Consequently, all State Governments/Union Territories must constitute State Allied and Healthcare Councils by November 25, 2024.
