The Dental Council of India (DCI) has issued a directive to all dental colleges in light of the Revised Counseling Schedule for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course for the academic session 2023-2. This notice was issued on 1st November, 2023.
It may be recalled that the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) had announced in notice dated October 31, 2023 a revised counseling schedule for BDS admissions. The last date for joining the course was set as November 15, 2023.
Accordingly, the DCI has instructed dental college authorities to upload the details of students admitted to the BDS course for the academic session 2023-24 on the DCI Website on or before the last date of joining, i.e., 15th November 2023, at 12:00 midnight.
The directive emphasizes the following key points:
1. Admission Cut-Off: Any claims of admission made after 12:00 midnight on November 15, 2023, will be subject to legal provisions under the Dentists (Amendment) Act, 1993, and/or the Dentists Act, 1948. The college authorities must ensure that all admissions are completed within the specified deadline.
2. Timely Data Upload: To avoid network issues and undue delays, dental institutions are advised to upload student details gradually, immediately after each round of counseling. All details must be uploaded no later than 12:00 midnight on November 15, 2023.
3. Upload Genuine Admissions: Dental colleges are strongly cautioned against uploading details of students who have not been genuinely admitted to their institution. Only legitimate admissions should be reported to prevent any potential penalties or actions by the DCI.
4. Registration with State Dental Councils: Only student details uploaded on the DCI portal will be forwarded to State Dental Councils and Tribunals for BDS degree registration.
5. Data Submission Format: It is essential to note that only student details uploaded on the DCI Website will be considered. Any information received in alternative formats, such as email or hard copies, will not be accepted. Requests for time extensions or technical issues will not be entertained.
6. Technical Support: In case of any difficulties or technical issues, dental colleges can contact DCI for technical support at secy-dci@nic.in or call 011-23238542.
7. Compliance Urged: All competent authorities are requested to ensure that dental college authorities fully comply with the stipulations mentioned in the directive to avoid any delays, legal consequences, and to facilitate the DCI’s timely actions.
