Concessional Custom Duty Certificates For Non-Conventional Generation of Compressed Bio-Gas

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced the continuation of concessional customs duty certificates (CCDCs) for projects aimed at generating Compressed Bio-Gas (Bio-CNG) using non-conventional materials. This Office Memorandum (OM) was issued on August 9, 2024.

This extension of support aims to boost the production of Bio-CNG, a cleaner alternative to conventional fuels. Projects utilizing agricultural, forestry, agro-industrial, industrial, municipal, and urban waste, as well as bio-waste or poultry litter, will be eligible for these incentives.

To avail the concession, project developers will need to submit applications through the concerned State Nodal Agency (SNA) to the MNRE. These applications shall be submitted as one set of hard copies and one scanned soft copy in searchable PDF format. This application shall be in the format prescribed in annexure I of this OM.

The ministry will then issue certificates recommending the grant of customs duty concessions after thorough evaluation.
