Compulsory Licencing norms for Manufacturers withdrawn

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) through its press note dated 11 September, 2019 has withdrawn the Press Note No. 17 (1984) series regarding Environmental clearance of Industrial Licence-Conditions of Letter of Intent/ Industrial Licence, related to pre-1991 period.

The government has clarified that no licence would be required for the manufacture of goods except :  Tobacco items, Electronic aerospace and defence equipment, Industrial Explosives and  Hazardous chemicals.

Press Note No. 17 (1984) series stands withdrawn as the Department is not issuing licences to any other industry.
