Commencement date of Central Motor Vehicles (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2020

Central Government on 30th March, 2021 has declared that Central Motor Vehicles (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2020, shall come into force on the 01st April, 2022.

The new amendment provides for using safety glass or safety glazing material while making windscreen and window glass of every motor vehicle. The manufacturer of every motor cycle with a provision for a pillion rider shall provide following safety precautions:

  1. Provision for pillion hand holds on the side of the motor cycle or behind the driver seat and it shall comply with the requirement specified in IS: 14495-1998;
  2. Foot rests for the pillion rider on both sides of the motor cycle;
  3. Protective device covering not less than half portion of the rear left wheel of the motorcycle so as to prevent the clothes of the person sitting on the pillion entangled in the rear wheel.
