The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, on 16th August, 2022 issued a circular on revised guidelines for arrest and bail in relation to offences punishable under Customs Act, 1962.
The threshold limits specified in the guidelines with respect to such arrest and detention have been streamlined in accordance with revision of threshold limits for launching prosecution in relation to offences punishable under the Customs Act, 1962 vide earlier circular dated 16th August, 2022.
The circular lays down situations where such arrest and detention can be effectuated in the amended guidelines.
