Chief Election Commissioner’s Oversight in Tamil Nadu

The esteemed Chief Election Commissioner, along with the distinguished Election Commissioner and other high-ranking officials of the Election Commission of India, arrived in Chennai to assess the Poll Preparedness for the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha in 2024, specifically focusing on Tamil Nadu. The visit spanned two days, during which various crucial meetings were conducted. This Notification was published on 24.02.2024.

On the second day of their visit (24.02.2024), the Commission held a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers and State Police Nodal Officers from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala to deliberate on Poll Preparedness in these respective states. Following this, a session with officials from Central and State Enforcement Agencies (comprising 21 departments) was held to address Election Expenditure Monitoring concerns. Continuing their engagements, the Commission convened a meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Government, the Director General of Police, and all relevant Secretaries to the Government, who play pivotal roles in Election Preparedness. The visit of the Election Commission of India culminated with a Press Conference held at 3:00 PM, providing insights into the discussions and plans moving forward.
